2009 Update of the Vietnamese Children's Wheelchair and Prosthetics Group

The 2009 trip to Vietnam was once more a very successful trip. As always I came back with so many good feelings and memories that will last me a long, long time and a better person for the trip.

This year we traveled into the most southern part of the Mekong Delta. It was the first time to travel that far south for Jimmy Thompson, Ron Hunt and myself. The first day we traveled about 45 miles from Saigon to Ben Tre City in the Province of Ben Tre.

From there we traveled further south, about 20 miles to Tra Vinh, the capital city in the Tra Vinh Province. There we made another delivery of wheelchairs and as you might see on the website the children were really in need of them. Each stop that we make draws us closer and closer to the real true meaning of what helping these kids is all about.

Our next stop was six hours away in Ca Mau. This province is the most southern one in Vietnam. We again were met with very thankful people and smiling children.

The following day we spent 8 hours traveling back to Saigon so Jimmy and I could make our trip to Da Nang the following day. The visit to the Orthopedic Hospital in Da Nang was very enlightening. We had sponsored 15 children’s surgical procedures and the youngest was 11 months old.

date: April 4-7, 2011

location: Just finished our 2011 trip:

There are many children here who are in need of the help we can offer.

Over the past few years, we've shared many new adventures as friends. But the most enjoyable experience was working with the children in Vietnam. Here are some of the photos that have been taken over the years.
